Our beautiful girl Bronte Elle joined us earthside on the 6th of August 2020, just a couple of days into Melbourne’s stage 4 lockdown.
Labour begin at 40+5, with absolutely no ‘signs’ in the days or hours prior.
Being a Midwife myself, I have seen firsthand how effective Tens use can be for labouring women so I knew I wanted to try it and I’m SO glad I did.
My labour progressed more quickly than I imagined it would so I found myself adjusting the controls and hammering on that boost function within no time at all. I applied it early when experiencing mild back cramps and used it right up until I got in the birth pool as I started to push. The Tens allowed me to stay mobile during labour and it gave me something to concentrate on when trying to distract myself from the contractions.
After a quick 6 hours of active labour, Bronte was born in the water, at home as planned. Having had no exposure to medication during labour Bronte was born alert and took to breastfeeding like a champ. I couldn’t have asked for a better birth experience.
I already wish I could re-live labour all over again. It was the most empowering and life altering day of my life.
